What is QI and why is it good for us?

QI is energy, life force…it is everywhere in all things, difficult to grasp or see, yet powerful and natural. Our bodies depend on the Qi to move and flow to all parts connecting all organs and cells.

Qi has many faces and jobs that happen without a fuss, but when blocked or deficient, lets us know subtly in our faces, pulses, colour, emotion, urine, stools, dreams and sleep. Qi is in the food we eat and the food is classified according to how the Qi in the food creates movement in the body, i.e. up, down, inward outward, cold, hot (not like how we classify in the west with nutrients and calories). Qi is in the air we breathe, and this air is transformed when in the lungs, to be used in the vital energy – like fuel in a car.

All different types of Qi blend and move through the body creating health and wellbeing when allowed to flow and circulate. Qi is one of the treasures that we sadly abuse and diminish, but with awareness and education we are beginning to value its knowing.

One of the strategies I use to assist you is to look at the Qi cycle or Horary which govern the Organs/Officials of the body, and the times of the day that they work most efficiently.
